Four ‘Sinful’ Treats Turn Out To Be Healthy

You’ve probably heard of and read about all kinds of food that you shouldn’t be eating. And you’ve most likely downsized your grocery list to almost nothing when you followed the so-called list of ‘Foods to avoid.’ But are there ‘Sinful’ Treats that are healthy?

Newsflash: Not everything on that list would make you gain a crazy amount of weight, nor would 90% of that give you some strange disease. And you know what else? Even foods such as those listed below, which may have made it to the ‘elite’ batch of foods to not touch at all, can actually do some considerable good for your health!

'Sinful' Treats

Chocolate

It’s sweet, smooth, and delectable. And they say it’s laden with a world of calories, is addictive, and is certainly not something a weight-conscious person should even taste.

Truth is, chocolate has actually gone down in ancient history as a pleasurable delight that’s imbibed with ‘healing’ capabilities. And of course, this still remains true to this day.

Dark chocolate is the most popular healthy form of chocolate, the less additional ingredients, the better. It has an abundance of flavonoids, which is the same heart-friendly element you can also find in fruits and red wine.

It is said that dark chocolate can aid in preventing heart attacks, high blood pressures, and strokes among others.

And of course, there’s the mood-enhancing effect that’s never bad for anyone.

The trick to keeping chocolate consumption healthy: go for the dark variety, and consume it in moderation.

Avocadoes

Fruits are normally found under the ‘yes-you-can-eat-this’ category. However, the avocado’s high fat content lands it on another list.

To those who find it hard to resist its green buttery goodness, then you’ll be glad to know that it’s perfectly ok to indulge in an avocado slice (or two). So what did they discover about this yummy fruit? It’s the presence of beta-sitosterol, which can actually help in lowering cholesterol in one’s body.

Coconut products

High-fat content, bad cholesterol – coconut products have been regarded in a ‘bad light’ a number of times, landing it in the ‘forbidden’ list for those on a weight loss mission.

But recent findings about its content of medium-chain triglycerides, which are said to be antiviral and anti-parasitic, are changing the way people look at coconut by-products. The saturated fat in coconut oil also has lower calorie-content when compared to other oil products with regular fat.

Maple Syrup

Want syrupy goodness for your pancakes? It’s ok to say YES!

Real maple syrup are said to have twenty antioxidants in a 20-liter bottle, and these anti-sickness fighting substances are definitely good to have for breakfast. The sweet, sticky syrup also has flavonoids, same as what you find in the sensational dark chocolate, and are said to have anti-cancer properties.

If you can get your hands on natural or organic maple syrup, that would be ideal! But make sure to not go bingeing in pancakes swimming with maple syrup, as that would still factor in unwanted calories into your diet.

Interesting right? To find out that the ‘sinful’ foods you crave for are actually health foods too! There is one rule of thumb in these yummy eats though: consume in moderation. Now we can really say…Happy eating!

People think that to lose weight you just need to eat less but in reality you just have to change your diet and eat healthy. I myself have lost a lot of weight and my secret was homemade weight loss shakes. I used fruits and protein powder.
Its always nice to see posts like these.

  4. I totally agree that chocolates and avocados are good for you, the bad thing is the sugar that is stuffed in everything nowadays. As long as you eat these foods with less sugars I think you can totally lose weight.
