Acid reflux in women, especially during pregnancy is very common since the body undergoes certain changes during this particular state. During pregnancy, certain hormonal changes typically occur wherein the woman’s body produces more gastric juices inside the stomach. Since it is very common that a woman tends to eat more and more often during this state, even more of these hormones will be continuously produced. As a matter of fact, researches have shown that twenty-five percent of women suffer from acid reflux, especially during pregnancy.
Treatment for acid reflux include certain medications like acid suppressors, antacids and the like. However, taking such medications is a bit risky more especially during a delicate state like pregnancy. If you do not want to take certain meds for acid reflux, here are a couple of tips that will help you ease the symptoms associated with this condition.
1.) Try not to eat large servings particularly at night. As a suggestion, have your dinner at least two hours before you go to sleep. This will give your tummy the time to properly digest the foods you consumed before you hit the sack.
2.) Instead of eating three large meals per day, divide them into six smaller meals that you can take all throughout the entire day and make it a point that you drink plenty of fluids every single day as well. By eating smaller meals, it will be easier for your stomach to digest the foods you consume. Drinking plenty of fluids on the other hand, will help immensely in terms of digestion.
3.) Keep away from citrus fruits like oranges, lemon, pineapple and the like. Such fruits can contribute to the build up of acids inside your stomach. To satisfy your cravings for sweets and fruits, have a couple of slices of apples.
